Like many of her Jewish peers in the former Soviet Union, Yana had little knowledge about Judaism or Jewish culture until she came to study in the ORT school. Yana’s home is filled with love and care, and she lived in a perfect world until last spring when she developed severe pains in the back. Not knowing what caused the pain, Yana’s parents took her from one doctor to another, until the horrible news…Yana has spinal cancer…
