Combination of Hi-Tech and Doing Good

For most of my adulthood I have been part of the Hi-tech scene. It was almost as if it was a predetermined course of life. I studied software engineering and thereafter blended in the ever-growing hi-tech industry of the 90’s.

It is a fast paced and ruthless arena, leaving room only for the best to survive. As I sorted my way through the endless challenges, trying to develop my professional career, measuring success by how many people report to me, or how much money I made, I couldn’t but wonder where does this lead? Is there really nothing else to aspire to? Is this really all there is to life?

This project is a very different one – it has the power to make a major impact and influence the long-term interrelationship between world Jewry and Israel.

So I paused. I took a time-out from this crazy roller coaster and began to look around, to look at the community I live in. To see if there might be a different route, more satisfying. It didn’t take long before I was introduced to the third sector and the Tebeka organization. I met a reality very different from anything I had known before. I encountered true altruism and the good will of people dedicated to better their community and improve other people’s lives. It blew me away.

For a few years I volunteered. I still do. But, as fulfilling and satisfying as it was and still is, I felt that there is much more that can be done. I also felt the need to leave a mark on the global Jewish world.

And then along came JGooders. JGooders is a combination of hi-tech thinking and the doing good of the third sector. It is an ambitious attempt to make a global impact on the Jewish community: recruit the endless powers of the new generation for doing good deeds. JGooders, unlike any other, provides a one – stop address for all good deeds.

The challenge is big, no doubt about it. Weaving the net of do gooders with those who need it is not a simple task, but the reward is worthwhile. It’s a win-win situation: the fast pace of both hi-tech and the new generation combined with the satisfaction of being able to have a positive effect on the future of the global Jewish community. It is exactly the unique and thrilling opportunity I was looking for.
