The last grains in the hourglass before JGooders goes live!
Donations – It’s a 4 way street.
JGooders.com allows you to donate to any project we have verified and host on the site – so you can be sure that your money will not only reach the right people but will also go to your chosen cause. But that’s the basics. We took this most elementary feature and enhanced it. We give you 4 completely different ways of giving:
It’s the last grains in the hourglass as we approach the launch. And believe me, we make every grain count. Checking and fixing all the features we think you’ll appreciate. Usually sites that launch for the first time consist of a few small features and then evolve over time. We plan to evolve too, but we also decided that if we are providing a platform, we should make it rich to suit everyone’s needs. So, presenting for the first time, here are some of what I believe to be our exciting features:
- You can donate anonymously, which means that no identifying details will be passed on to anyone (including the charity).
- You can leave a message for all to see on the project’s donors list, including your name and address. Cheer the project’s team, invite others to donate too or just leave some phrase for the rest of the world to see.
- Give your donation as a gift to someone or honor someone you respect by donating in their name. We’ll let you pick from a selection of cards that will be sent to the recipient with your message via email or fax.
- The memorial wall. This is by far one of our most exciting features. We are working hard on perfecting it and it will be available shortly after launching. You can donate in memory of someone you cherish, including the ability to upload pictures and more. We’ll tell you all about it when it becomes available.
Don’t give money – Give time!
Volunteer. A lot of the projects on the site offer volunteer opportunities. With our built-in advanced search options, it’s easy to find how and where you can give your time for one-time or ongoing volunteering. We connect you directly with the volunteering supervisor of each project.
The power is yours – share the goodness.
We have added a few neat features that allow you to share your ideas and thoughts. We also added a simple bookmarking bar that allows you to save and share projects in different online services. We embedded social networks and gave them a central place. You can join an existing network or open a new one. Some networks are the official communities of a project and others can be simply a few folks that have found a cause for Doing Good together. Users are particularly invited to share their ‘Do Good’ stories and inspire others.
Not enough sharing? We thought so too, so we added even more: Found a project you think people should get involved with? Why not become its partner? Partners get to issue their own personal call – on their own page – to support a project and share it with their friends and everybody else – it’s a bit like a human mash up.
Those were my favorite features; there are a few more already on the site and several dozen more in our thoughts. Right from the beginning, we have really tried to put it all together to ensure that the site has the power to make a real difference in Jewish philanthropy. I think we did well and I hope that with your help, we’ll all ‘Do Good’. See you in November.
Yours,
Liel Dulev.

love it you should wirte more
I discovered a very unique school in Hadera Israel. The basic premise of the shool is to teach Science and Judaism to children in Hadera and its environs in the most professional manner possible. Hadera had a high rate of criminal activity and violence among youth. The school sets its major goal to teach proper manners and behavior by setting examples with a trained and devoted staff. the over 500 students, almost all of them from secular homes attending are drawn to the school by their and family’s desire to rise out from the criminal activites of their surroundings through education. the school feels that jewish values taught together with science (chemistry physics, computerscience, renewable energy etc. will give these students hope for a brighter future.
the school makes no mandatory religous observance demands nor any resrictions on the ethnic bacground other than the be jewish and interested in learning and respecting their fellow students. if anyone is interested in more information or arranging a visit to the school please post a comment here or leave a message at the US local phone number at the end of this comment. The school is recognized by the Israeli Ministry of Education and tax authorites Although education in Israel is Free up to middle school level, ,this school has many expenses not subsidized by the Min. of Edu. such as meals , extra teaching hours, busing from the area etc. the writer, who is a supporter of thr school will return serious calls. my phone in US is1-646-519-4373
