Israel 15 - Leading Israel to become one of the top 15 countries

Hundreds of political, business and civic leaders gathered at Tel Aviv’s Dan Panorama hotel for the Reut Institute’s Israel 15 Conference, a gathering dedicated to exploring ways to “leapfrog” Israel to one of the top 15 countries of the world. Featuring Knesset Member Tzipi Livni and other prominent leaders– the sessions covered topics such “socioeconomic leapfrogging” and the environment as an economic asset and a security interest and engaged the eager participants in animated dialogue Ronit Dolev, JGooders co-founder and board chair, shared her thoughts as a featured panelist at one session entitled “The Jewish World – Untapped Growth Engine” hosted by Avraham Infeld.
The session asked panelists to think about how the Jewish world could be better leveraged to help Israel make the leap to being a top 15 country. Debate coved topics like education, business, Jewish identity, philanthropy, tikkun olam (repairing the world) and more. Ronit focused in part on reaching younger generations and particularly on using the internet and the myriad of tools it offers to engage people and develop a global online community. She also talked about the how old model of the Jewish world building Israel via one-sided philanthropy is out-dated and that now and in the future the emphasis must be on a more global, open approach to tikkun olam.
Ronit’s remarks resonated with many in the audience and lively discussion continued even after the formal ending. This is just one of the many ways that JGooders is playing an active role in shaping new ideas about philanthropy as well as engaging more and more people its innovative giving platform.
Projects on the JGooders site that are focused on strengthening various aspects of Israel society on the policy level include:
Yedid’s Protecting Women Against Workplace Abuse – this project ensures that the employment rights and dignity of low-income women are protected and enforce and seeks changes in Israeli national policy that will improve the working conditions and opportunities of low-income women.
Just Visions Best Practices Initiative’s goal is to develop regional networks of trained facilitators who can assist educators and community leaders to address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict responsibly, among inter- and intra-faith constituencies, in non-polarizing ways, with an eye toward civic peace building between Palestinians and Israelis. The organization is based is the United States.
Visit these projects and see how you can play a role in their work – and others working in the public and civic sectors.
